After a four month absence, Fuckwits will return to the Newcastle Stand later this month – in a new lunchtime slot.

The spoof game show is back on Sunday 14th October at 2pm, with Viz co-creator Simon Donald at the helm for an afternoon of clueless crosswords, spot the differences – with a difference – and dick jokes.

Tickets have also been reduced to £5 to accommodate the earlier time slot.

Fuckwits came about through my old mate from Viz, Alex Collier, pissing around with his Facebook account”, said Donald.

“He started to put blank crossword puzzles online and asked his friends to fill them in without any kind of clues. Everybody just twatted about and it ended up being hilarious, and also quite challenging. That shambolic idea is at the centre of the show, with some variations in the rounds.”

He explained: “Really, the idea is to give comedians a vehicle to argue with each other. When they start intersecting that’s when it gets interesting.”

Earlier this year, Giggle Beats revealed that the spoof panel show, created by former Viz co-editor Collier, had been earmarked by the BBC as a new comedy vehicle for stand-up Richard Herring. And under the working title Richard Herring’s Puzzled, the show was road-tested during the Edinburgh Festival on Saturday 25th August.

However Collier is keen to continue developing its format at the Newcastle Stand, where the show began back in April.

He told Giggle Beats: “I’m dead pleased that we’ve been given another opportunity to arse about at The Stand.

“The show is being tweaked, buffed up and polished for the BBC as Puzzled, so we’ve got loads of exciting new stuff and great ideas to try out and mess around with. Fuckwits is very much the crazy, mad bastard, drunken uncle to Puzzled, and it’s ace to play with the daft old twat again.

“I just hope he doesn’t try to touch me inappropriately again.”

Collier added: “We very much want to make a comedy show first and a panel show second. And a quiz show last. A fucking quiz show is the last thing I want to do, after being bummed by a rabid dog.”
