Comedy International Conference set for second year
Details of this year’s Comedy International Conference have been confirmed, with the event due to take place in September.
This year’s conference is set to explore the dramatic rise in comedy bookings at music festivals (earlier this year, Bill Bailey made history by headlining the Saturn Stage at Sonisphere metal festival) as well as panels focusing on self promotion and, comparisons of the medium of comedy from around the world and tips for building an audience overseas.
Guests and panellists who are believed to be attending include Nick Handford (Mick Perrin Productions), Tristan Cotterill (Avalon) and Jim Frayling (Head of Music & News Events at Wembley Stadium).
The first Comedy International Conference, held last year, was the brainchild of industry veteran Sytske Kamstra, and brought representatives from all aspects of the comedy business, including agents, promoters and producers, together.
In a statement, Sytske said: “After the overwhelmingly positive feedback from our first event last year we are looking forward to including even more comedy professionals this time round,” She added, “Most of all we want to repeat the atmosphere we created last year to make the conference a place to learn and to exchange thoughts and ideas, making useful contacts, catching up with friends and making the industry more productive for everybody.”
The Comedy International Conference will take place during the Greenwich Comedy Festival at the Old Royal Navy College, Greenwich on Thursday 8th September. For more information, visit their website.
