Richard Herring Comes To Hilarity Bites
“Last year the show was about Hitler. This year it’s about Jesus.
I am following the career path of Pope Benedict.”
Following his winter residency at the Leicester Square Theatre in London, Richard Herring is to embark on a national tour with his new critically acclaimed Edinburgh Fringe show, Christ on a Bike: The Second Coming; a reworking of his first and favourite solo work, Christ on a Bike. Now ten years older than the Messiah when he died, has Herring achieved as much with his life?
As a renowned atheist why is the comic so obsessed with Christ? Is he scared he might be wrong to be so dismissive? Does he feel that Christ’s true intentions and message have been subverted by his followers? Or does he secretly hope, in his heart that he might be Jesus, back at last, just like he promised, only about 2000 years later than planned?
Richard Herring is the quintessential thought-provoking comic and Chris On A Bike: The Second Coming is just as provocative and intellectually stimulating as last year’s Hitler Moustache. Herring’s child-like guile and masterful rhetoric will be on show around the country over the next few months, and you can see him in the North East at Hilarity Bites Comedy Club in April.
