Comedy fantasy series Yonderland is to return for a third series – and will boast Stephen Fry among its guest stars.

Fry will appear as Cuddly Dick, an eccentric, affectionate former Yonderland Elder who returns to the world to spread love and kindness.

Filming on the new series of Sky 1’s comic adventure will commence this spring for broadcast later this year.

The show, written by and starring the team behind Horrible Histories television series, follows the adventures of suburban mum Debbie as she enters the fantastical world of Yonderland through a portal in her kitchen cupboard.

Commenting on the commission, Adam MacDonald, director of Sky 1, said: “After two successful series, it’s extremely exciting to be bringing back Yonderland to Sky 1 for a third adventure.

“The creative team and cast are exceptionally talented and this weirdly wonderful show is well-loved by our audience. With the brilliant addition of Stephen Fry, this is a comedic treat for the whole family.”

The creators of Yonderland said: “As such huge fans of Stephen, we are all hysterically excited – and, yes, a little nervous – to be welcoming him to the mad world of Yonderland.”
