One of the North East’s most popular alternative comedy nights is moving.

Off-the-wall sketch and stand-up showcase Silly Billies will take place at Newcastle’s Alphabetti Theatre from next month.

The show, which previously ran at both The Cumberland Arms and later the Live Theatre, will launch The Order of the Silly Billies on Saturday 6 February.

The premiere will see Silly Billies stalwarts Jack Gardner and Sam Megahy reborn as Zodiac Mindwarp and Confident Christopher, joined as usual by Barry Fox and The Hippo.

In a departure from their usual format, the first show will feature a full hour of The Order of the Silly Billies, with a special appearance by Barnaby J Thompson.

In addition to their monthly night at The Alphabetti Theatre, The Order will be appearing at Middlesborough’s Westgarth Social Club on Saturday 13 February, and at Criterion, Leicester on Wednesday 17 and Thursday 18 February as part of Dave’s Leicester Comedy Festival.

The Leicester Comedy Festival shows are part of Bob Slayer’s Heroes Of The Fringe performances.

The Order of the Silly Billies: Alphabetti Theatre, Newcastle, Saturday 6 February, 7.30pm. Tickets are £5.
