The Stand to host benefit for out-of-work comics
Newcastle’s The Stand Comedy Club are to stage a benefit gig for new charity Comedy Support Act.
The Stand Up 4 Stand Up benefit show will take place at The Stand on Sunday 13 December, with performances from Dave Johns, Kai Humphries, John Scott, Fred Macaulay and Steffen Peddie.
Comedy Support Act is a new UK charity set up by professional comedians for professional comedians. The first of its kind on the UK comedy circuit, it aims to raise funds to help comics who, through no fault of their own, are unable to work.
Funded by benefit shows across the country, the charity will provide emergency funds and assistance to professional comedians who find themselves in financial hardship through serious illness or accident.
