Hot off the heels of the town’s first ever comedy festival, Funny Way To Be Comedy Club has confirmed a host of exciting names for its upcoming comedy programme in Barnard Castle.

Fred MacAulay opens the comedy club’s autumn season at The Witham on Saturday 26 September with his brand new show, Twenty Fifteen.

Back on the road again after 18 years at BBC Radio Scotland, the comedian is looking both backwards and forwards at everything from politics to sport, the environment and ‘celebrity’.

Next up in Funny Way To Be’s ever impressive calendar is a special work-in-progress show from star on the rise Nick Helm.

The multi award-winner and star of BBC Three sitcom Uncle comes to Barnard Castle on Thursday 22 October “to deliver truths about life, love and being a living legend with a bod that don’t quit.”

Jenny Eclair was one of the highlights of Funny Way To Be’s comedy programme in 2014, and she returns to Barnard Castle on Saturday 31 October with her brand new tour.

In the penultimate comedy show of the year, James Acaster makes a long-awaited debut appearance in the market town.

Acaster has notched up a plethora of award nominations, including Best Comedy Show at the 2012, 2013 and 2014 Edinburgh festivals. He comes to The Witham as part of a national tour on Saturday 28 November.

The comedy club’s final show of the year comes courtesy of Stephen K Amos. Amos appears in Barnard Castle on Saturday 12 December as part of his new tour, The Laughter Master.

Peter Dixon, of promoters Funny Way To Be, said: “I think it’s true to say that this is by far our strongest ever season of stand-up shows with some of the biggest and best names in the comedy business heading to Barnard Castle.

“We’ve Scotland’s most loved stand-up Fred MacAulay, a star in the making in Nick Helm, one of our favourite acts in Jenny Eclair, a three time Edinburgh Best Show Nominee in James Acaster, and TV comedian Stephen K. Amos.

“This is most definitely a series of shows where there is something for everyone.”

Tickets for all shows are on sale now from funnywaytobe.com. Prices range from £12 to £17.50.
