Canadian star Craig Campbell has been added to the line-up for this weekend’s Barnard Castle Comedy Festival.

The Michael McIntyre’s Comedy Roadshow star will perform a show for FREE at The Witham at 7.15pm, between Mark Watson’s much anticipated appearance and Alex Horne’s Edinburgh Comedy Award nominated Monsieur Butterfly.

TV comedians Jo Caulfield and Tony Law are also on the bill, as well as top local acts Lost Voice Guy and Lee Kyle.

Festival Director Peter Dixon said: “Although our programme is pretty jam-packed, between 7.00pm and 8.30pm we didn’t list an act as we need the time to set up all the props for the wonderful Alex Horne’s Monsieur Butterfly show in the Main Hall.

“We’ve now arranged for Craig [Campbell] to do a voluntary contribution show in the very intimate Witham Room between 7.15pm and 8pm.

“Day ticket holders will have priority to see the show, and having seen Craig perform tour shows at our club on numerous occasions, I know this is one show not to be missed.”

The first ever Barnard Castle Comedy Festival kicks off at 12pm and runs until 10.30pm with shows throughout the day.

Lee Kyle’s family friendly Gunge Show is at 12pm, followed by Lost Voice Guy (1.30pm), Tony Law (3pm), Jo Caulfield (4.30pm), Mark Watson (6pm), Craig Campbell (7.15pm) and Alex Horne (8.30pm).

Mr Dixon said: “We can’t wait to welcome six of the world’s best stand-ups to Teesdale.

“This really will be a special day for Barnard Castle; there’s a huge buzz around the town about the line-up and rightly so.

“We’re incredibly proud of the line-up we’ve put together.”

Day tickets for the festival are £45 but individual tickets are now available online or at The Witham.

Alex Horne’s show is priced £15; Mark Watson is £12; Jo Caulfield is £6; Tony Law is £6; Lost Voice Guy is £5; and Lee Kyle’s family-friendly Gunge Show is £5 (adults go free with accompanied children).
