Jo Caulfield is to appear in Barnard Castle this summer as part of the town’s first ever comedy festival.
The Mock The Week and Michael McIntyre’s Comedy Roadshow star has been announced for the star-studded event at The Witham arts centre on Saturday 18 July 2015.
Caulfield will be previewing her latest Edinburgh Fringe show, Awkward Conversations, in the venue’s main hall at 4.30pm.
The award-winning comedian will appear alongside Radio 4 star Alex Horne, Tony Law and BBC New Comedy Award winner Lost Voice Guy, who have already been confirmed to play the brand new festival.
Reacting to the news, Festival Director Peter Dixon said: “We’re incredibly excited that Jo Caulfield is able to bring her brand new show to our first ever festival.
“Jo’s previous two appearance in Barnard Castle both sold out, were outstanding shows and received standing ovations. She has a real affinity with people from our area.”
Best-known for her legendary one-woman shows, Jo Caulfield has been praised by The Observer as ‘one of the finest female comics at work’.
Caulfield is a regular guest on both Mock The Week and Have I Got News For You, as well as Never Mind The Buzzcocks, Saturday Night Live and Michael McIntyre’s Comedy Roadshow.
She wrote and starred in three series of her own critically-acclaimed Radio 4 series, It’s That Jo Caulfield Again.
She is also Graham Norton’s head writer and has written for Joan Rivers, Anne Robinson, Denise Van Outen, Marcus Brigstocke and Ant & Dec among others.
The Barnard Castle Comedy Festival is organised by Teesdale comedy promoters Funny Way To Be.
It takes place on Saturday 18 July 2015 at The Witham arts centre on Horsemarket.
Shows will run from 12pm until late, with Jo Caulfield’s show taking place at 4.30pm.
Earlybird day tickets for the festival are on sale now, priced £45. For more details on the festival, visit barnardcastlecomedy.com.
