Jimmy Carr adds final Middlesbrough date
Jimmy Carr has added an additional and final date at Middlesbrough Town Hall next year.
Due to public demand, Carr will now bring his Funny Business show to the Teeside venue on Sunday 9 August 2015, in addition to Saturday 28 March. His recent gig at the Town Hall on 22 November sold out five months in advance.
The announcement follows yesterday’s news that Dara O’Briain has added an extra date at the venue, as part of his Crowd Tickler tour.
Having performed live to over 1.5 million people, Carr is often described as the ‘hardest working man in comedy’, and has previously touted Middlesbrough as his favourite place to play.
Graham Ramsay of promoters Ten Feet Tall, who work alongside the Town Hall to deliver the venue’s comedy programme, said: “Jimmy’s just incredible really. What I most admire about him is the fact that even though he could easily play vast arenas, he insists that his agent books him into the so-called smaller theatres.”
“He’ll play Town Hall-sized rooms up and down the land even though it means doing a lot more gigs – literally ten times as many than if he just went into the big rooms – as he feels that shows in this kind of setting are a lot more fun for the audience, and for him personally.”
Looking ahead to the Town Hall’s diary for next year, Graham said: “The new shows have been coming in thick and fast these last few weeks – it feels like they’re selling out as fast as they come in. I think a lot of people are buying as Christmas presents. Makes sense… what better gift that a guaranteed great night out?!”
“So it’s all shaping up to be an incredible year ahead, and it looks like we’ll have a few more surprises up our sleeves in the near future. Watch this space is what I would suggest!”
