Filming begins on series two of House of Fools.

Filming is to begin on series two of House of Fools today.

Vic Reeves and Bob Mortimer’s offbeat BBC2 sitcom returns for a new seven-part run later this year, despite rumours the show was to be axed after just one series.

The first episode – believed to be a Christmas special – will be filmed across two recordings at MediaCity UK in Salford today, with a further six episodes set to be recorded throughout the autumn. Series two should follow shortly after, taking us into 2015.

On his Twitter account last week Bob Mortimer promised two big guest stars for today’s recording, as well as ‘the real Santa’. As we reported, Reece Shearsmith will return to House of Fools after his cameo in the series one finale, though whether he will return for the Christmas special remains to be seen.

Matt Berry, Dan Skinner, Morgana Robinson and stand-up Daniel Simonsen will also reprise their roles in the show.

Be sure to follow our Twitter account today as we’ll be posting spoiler-free updates and photos from the recording at MediaCity UK.

Extremely disappointed in the BBC yesterday. At least a 100 folk were turned away from the recording at Media City in Manchester of “House of Fools”. Everyone will have read the small print that came with the notification they were successful saying you aren’t guaranteed entrance and the BBC does oversubscribe because often people do not turn up. BUT the management of access to this show was way beyond a joke. Having taken a day off work, been out from a 9.00am to 7.30pm traveling and a £60 train ticket, arriving at 2.00pm when access to the building wasn’t supposed to be until 2.30pm, I didn’t expect that! Shame on you BBC.
