Enjoy the good old days of Music Hall in a one-off show at The Witham

Whisper it, but there was a time when audiences preferred their entertainment to consist of something more than a bill full of comedians. When variety and spectacle was king – in the golden age of Music Hall…

Now Teesdale has an opportunity to experience old time Music Hall as showbiz legend Don Maclean headlines at The Witham in Barnard Castle on Saturday 28 June.

Maclean (Radio 2, Crackerjack & Celebrity Squares) has been entertaining for over 40 years and will be joined by local favourite Alfie Joey, who you might recognise from appearances in Hebburn and Ideal.

Also appearing are veteran character act Bobby King, singer Helen Watson and ventriloquist Eileen and Joe, while Steve Barclay will evoke memories of legendary performers Max Miller and George Formby.

The event is organised by Peter Dixon of Funny Way To Be, in conjunction with The Witham, who work in partnership with Barnard Castle Vision, Durham County Council and The Bowes Museum.

Dixon said: “We are excited to bring such high quality entertainment to Barnard Castle. The show will be fast paced, with comedy, sing along songs and speciality acts.”
