Creased Comedy Festival, Newcastle’s free day of stand-up, is returning to the Ousburn Valley this summer.

The 2014 festival, organised by Geordie comedian Si Buglass, will take place on Saturday 5 July, once again at The Cluny 2 (formerly The Round Theatre) in Ousburn.

This year’s line-up, revealed today, features an exciting mix of TV names, award-winning comics, and some of the North East’s top stand-ups.

Like the 2013 festival, the hour-long shows – most of which are Edinburgh Fringe previews – will begin at 1pm and run until around 10.30pm.

And in the spirit of the Ousburn Festival – which takes place in the area on the same weekend – Creased 2014 will, for the first time, feature an hour-long family show between 1pm and 2pm.

Next up is Lost Voice Guy (pictured), who returns to Creased Comedy Festival after a five-star performance at last year’s event. His new show, Laughter Is The Worst Medicine, takes place at 2.30pm.

Mark Dolan follows with his Edinburgh preview at 4pm, before the only paid event on the programme, The Afternoon Show.

We can’t reveal The Afternoon Show line-up just yet, but can tell you it includes a stand-up with Russell Howard’s Good News on their CV and a previous So You Think You’re Funny finalist – so it is worth paying for.

But the 2014 festival ends how it begins, with more free comedy. Geordie feature film The Stagg Do gets an airing at 7.30pm, before Stephen ‘Friz’ Frizzle rounds off the festival with a performance of his new show, Songruiner.

Organiser Si Buglass said: “We’ve varied the line-up this year to include something for everyone, from our lunchtime kids’ comedy show, to Edinburgh previews – and even a movie screening.

Last year’s festival was such a great event, and we’re certain this year’s will be bigger and better.”

Continuing our commitment to grassroots comedy in the region, Giggle Beats are once again sponsoring the event.

Creased Comedy Festival 2014 takes place at The Cluny 2, Ousburn, on Saturday 5 July. Entry is free with a voluntary donation. Tickets for The Afternoon Show are priced £7 and are on sale from 9am on Monday 28 April via the Creased Comedy website.
