The BBC have announced seven original comedy shorts from the likes of Frankie Boyle, Bob Mortimer and Reece Shearsmith as part of its new BBC iPlayer launch.
Each comedian was invited to create a piece exclusively for BBC iPlayer, “something they’ve always wanted to write or perform.”
Boyle and Mortimer have teamed up to produce a “demented interactive cookery show” titled Frankie Boyle and Bob Mortimer’s Cookery Show.
While Shearsmith and Sally Phillips have recorded The Case Of The High Foot – about a pair of ‘gremlinologists’.
Meera Syal, Stewart Lee, Micky Flanagan and Mortimer’s House of Fools co-stars Morgana Robinson and Matt Berry have also filmed comedy shorts to be released on iPlayer in May.
Victoria Jaye, head of TV content for iPlayer, said: “Each comedian is doing a comedy short exclusively for BBC iPlayer, a ‘passion piece’ they’ve always wanted to do – these range from an Austro-German medical caper set in the Forties, to a live cookery show.
“They are as long as they are funny, and will be available on iPlayer from May.”
Comedy mockumentary People Just Do Nothing, first seen on iPlayer as part of BBC Three’s ‘Comedy Feeds’, will also be available online from May.
