Some of the North West’s most exciting comedy minds are hoping to replicate the success of Saturday Night Live when they team up to perform a show in Greater Manchester.
Comedians Kiri Pritchard-Mclean, Lee Fenwick, Peter Slater, Lou Conran, Phil Ellis, Ed Easton, James Meehan, Danny Sutcliffe, and Kath Hughes have decided to get together to perform a sketch show in the vein of NBC’s hit late-night comedy.
Known collectively as Sketchole, the group will perform its first ever show at The Lowry theatre in Salford on Sunday 6 April.
And speaking ahead of the performance, Pritchard-Mclean says the night will be a great chance to showcase some of the North’s best comic talent.
She said: “I’m really excited because I get to work with some of the people in comedy that make me laugh the most, and it’s great that The Lowry have heard about the project and are keen to give it their time.
“I can see already it’s going to be brilliant. The sketches and characters we’re already working on are already so promising I think it’s going to be a really good night.”
Pritchard-Mclean says the recent success of The House that Stank of Death, a horror-themed selection of plays that sold out its performance at The Lowry, just goes to show that people want something a bit different.
And the Manchester stand-up is confident that Sketchole will prove to be just as refreshing for North West comedy fans.
She added: “They aren’t after polish and famous people, they’re after funny and we’ve got that in bucket-loads.”
Tickets for Sketchole are on sale now, priced £10.
Sketchole takes place at The Lowry, Manchester, on Sunday 6 April. The show starts at 8pm. Click to buy tickets.
