Tyneside promoters Creased Comedy promise “huge names” as they announce their 2014 programme, which includes Newcastle United’s St James’ Park as a key venue.

Gary Delaney and Brendon Burns will headline gigs in the stadium’s Magpie Suite over the next few months, joining local comics including Hebburn’s Steffen Peddie, Lee Kyle, and George Zach.

Simon Buglass, who runs Creased Comedy, told Giggle Beats that being able to run shows at St James’ is a “career highlight for me.”

The football ground is the latest venue to host the popular comedy nights, joining The Berkeley Tavern in Whitley Bay, Walker’s NE6 Suite, and The Cluny in Ouseburn.

Creased Comedy’s 2014 programme also boasts Ray Peacock and Romesh Ranganathan, with other top stand-ups set to be announced.

The season culminates with the second annual Creased Comedy Festival at The Cluny in July, which last year featured Edinburgh Fringe previews from Lost Voice Guy and Tony Jameson.

Although the acts for July’s festival have yet to be announced, Creased Comedy will again be working with Giggle Beats for the event.

Speaking about Creased Comedy’s line-up in the coming months, Buglass said that the acts booked to appear “include some of my favourite acts working today.”

He also promises that more “tremendous acts” and “huge names” will be added to the 2014 schedule.

Had the pleasure of booking Creased Comedy and Si at my venue The NE6 Suite, and they made for a cracking evening. Great to hear local lads doing well for themselves and i know that he will have St James Park in stitches, and this time it won’t be because of the footy team’s performance :)
