Ross Noble will be tickling tastebuds at a one-off show in Newcastle next month.

Giggle Beats can reveal that the surreal Geordie stand-up will appear at The Stand Comedy Club, Newcastle, on Sunday 2 March as a guest at The Dinner Party, a one-off panel show that will see Noble and guests chew the fat over their all-time heroes.

And at the same time, fans can join Ross for a unique food menu devised especially for the ‘comedy Come Dine With Me’ style show.

Noble, who regularly sells out week-long runs at Newcastle’s City Hall theatre, will be joined on the panel by singer-songwriter Kathryn Williams, while Never Mind the Buzzcocks star Phill Jupitus will host the show inspired by The Stand’s recent Dinner Date concept.

“This is very much the chef’s special of our Dinner shows,” producer Alex Collier told Giggle Beats.

“You could only do this show at The Stand in Newcastle – not only because of the way the venue is laid out, but also because of the high esteem that Ross, Phill and Kathryn hold the place in.

“These acts, at this venue, complimented by the food they cook up is just going to make for a stunning combination.”

Giggle Beats understand that, unlike previous Dinner Date shows broadcast on this very website, The Dinner Party won’t be available to watch online.

Tickets will also be limited. With dining tables the venue will only hold around 160 people – so it is very much a one-off show.

“All the usual cabaret seating are taken out and we replace it with dining tables and full silver service the lot,” Collier added.

“The food is none of your chicken in a basket either; as regulars to The Stand will know it’s of the highest, five-star quality, just like the acts on stage.”

Tickets for the show are £20, or £30 including a four-course meal.

Standing tickets will also be available for £10.

  • The Dinner Party, featuring Ross Noble, Phill Jupitus and Kathryn Williams, takes place on Sunday 2 March at midday.
  • Tickets go on sale to Stand Together members in person at The Stand in Newcastle from 11am on Saturday 15 February. Any remaining tickets will go on general sale on Monday 17 February.

In over 30 odd years of watching live comedy this show had to be the lowest point. Not even Ross Noble could save it and appeared to have almost nodded off whilst Jupitus was drawing teeth, oh sorry I mean extensively questioning Kathryn Williams on her choice of dinner guest Patti Smith. I expected someone like Jupitus to be able to judge and move a subject on, throw it over to Ross etc but sadly he just coasted through intent on sticking to his scripted questions and namedropping at every opportunity.
I didn’t see the original shows with Steve Drayton but I know he’d never have let it ramble on boringly for so long The show was over 3.5 hours long with the only break being after a very dull 2 hours, A total waste of a Sunday afternoon and an even bigger waste of 20 quid each.
Good luck to whoever has to edit that down for the funny bits as they’ll be hard pressed to made 30 minutes of decent material for a pilot. It also hard to ignore the shuffling, fidgeting and sighing around us so we obviously weren’t alone in our opinions.
