Viz co-creator Simon Donald donates artwork for MS Society auction
The co-creator of Viz has donated a bespoke artwork to the Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Society.
Simon Donald, who edited the comic alongside his brother Chris until 2003, has donate a hand-drawn birthday card as part of the charity’s Card For A Cause auction.
The card features four of Viz’s best-loved characters – Mr Logic, Millie Tant, Johnny Fartpants and Sid the Sexist – and is signed by Donald, who himself was diagnosed with MS in 2009.
Donald said: “I have a form of the condition that is currently benign, although there’s no guarantee it will always stay that way.
“My mother also had MS. She died in 1994 aged 60, having suffered with the condition for 30 years –so the MS Society is something I’ve felt close to all my life.
“In recent years I haven’t done as much for them, which is why I’m now consciously trying to redress that balance.”
Donald’s card is currently being auctioned on eBay, with all proceeds going to those affected by MS. Bidding ends on Friday 13 December at 9.36am.
