Teesdale promoters Funny Way To Be have announced their 2014 programme – with award-winners, TV stars and comedy history makers amongst those coming to Barnard Castle in the next twelve months.

Based at the newly-refurbished Witham Hall, Funny Way To Be’s new year line-up features an eclectic mix of talent, with tour shows from the likes of Jenny Eclair, Matt Richardson, Craig Campbell and Jo Caulfield, traditional comedy club nights and Edinburgh previews in the summer months.

The programme, curated by Funny Way To Be organiser Peter Dixon, begins on Saturday 8 February with a show hosted by Hebburn actor Alfie Joey.

Joey, who will be appearing in the second series of the BBC2 sitcom, joins Andrew O’Neill and Paul F Taylor at The Witham for Funny Way To Be’s first show of 2014.

Peter Dixon, of Funny Way To Be, said: “We are delighted to have secured such a wonderful array of top quality comics each month for the first half of 2014.

“Our return to The Witham [following a £3m renovation] enables us to programme some of the best comedians that regularly fill large venues.

“We always look to provide a variety of different style of comic within a given period, and with rising stars, well established acts, club nights, tours, stand-ups, magicians, new acts and returning favourites we have certainly done that this season.

“There is something for everyone in these line ups.”
