Newcastle’s Tyneside Cinema have launched a new stand-up night combining comedy and film.

Electric Comedy is a new monthly comedy night in the cinema’s Tyneside Bar, starting on Thursday 21 November.

2011 Edinburgh Best Newcomer nominee Thom Tuck will headline the first show, with support from local stand-ups Andy Fury, Lauren Pattison and Seymour Mace.

Tuck has presented several programmes for Radio 4 comedy, including his film-themed solo show ‘Thom Tuck Goes Straight To DVD’ which was broadcast earlier this year.

Fury also takes inspiration from the world of cinema for his material, and recently set himself the challenge of watching a classic film every day for a year.

The result is his first solo-show Andy Fury Loves Film, which he is due to perform at next year’s Edinburgh Fringe.

Also performing on the night will be Giggle Beats’ New Act of the Month for April, Lauren Pattison.

And Seymour Mace (Ideal) will compere the first Electric Comedy, bringing his inimitable madcap style to the Tyneside following his acclaimed Fringe show this summer.

Leigh Venus, Venue Manager for Tyneside Cinema, said: “We can’t wait to present the opening night of our brand-new night of stand-up in the Tyneside Bar this month, and we’re thrilled to be kicking things off with some really fantastic comedians who love film as much as we do!”

Electric Comedy takes place on the third Thursday of the month in the Tyneside Bar. Tickets are now on sale for Thursday 19 December 2013 and Thursday 16 January 2014, priced £8.
