The Ginge, The Geordie and The Geek: BBC2 series to air in October
A six-part series featuring sketch group The Ginge, The Geordie and The Geek will be broadcast on BBC Two in October.
Filming on the six-part show began in November last year at the BBC’s Pacific Quay studios in Glasgow following a successful pilot.
Now, the BBC have confirmed that the series will air on BBC Two in October, although the specific dates have not been confirmed.
The group, featuring comedians Graeme Rooney, Paul Charlton and Kevin O’Loughlin, have been one of success stories at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in recent years with their energetic, family-friendly sketches.
The trio claim to have sold 28,000 tickets during their five years at the Fringe.
BBC Comedy’s Kristian Smith said: “It is great news to bring this talented trio, with their individual and imaginative sense of humour, to television screens.”
The television series is directed by Mandie Fletcher, who has directed classic sitcoms including Black Adder, Only Fools and Horses, and Absolutely Fabulous.
Speaking to Giggle Beats in 2011, Paul Charlton said the group “got into sketch comedy because we thought we could do something different from the majority of sketch shows as it seemed saturated by middle class, South of England sketch acts.”
UPDATE: It was confirmed on 18 September that the first episode of The Ginge, The Geordie and The Geek will be broadcast on BBC Two on Sunday 29 September.
