Teenage comedian Jack Carroll has finished second on this year’s Britain’s Got Talent.

14-year-old Jack, from Huddersfield, was up against impressionist Francine Lewis, puppeteer Steve Hewlett, young songwriter Gabz, Arisxandra Libantino, Asanda Jezile, Jordan O’Keefe, Luminites, Pre-Skool, Richard & Adam and Attraction.

Simon Cowell – shell-shocked after eggs were thrown at him by a violinist  – said Jack was a “naughty boy” for joking about the incident, but nailed his colours to the mast by saying he wanted Carroll to win the £250,000 prize.

David Walliams agreed, saying that Carroll “will go on to become a comedy superstar.” He added: “You’re not just my favourite comedian on the show. You’re one of my favourite comedians.”

Guest Psy, best known for his 2012 hit ‘Gangnam Style’, also backed Carroll to be a success in the near future, saying: “We have learned something tonight: Britain needs more funny bones.”

Hungarian shadow theatre group Attraction took first place in the end, and will perform in front of the Queen at the Royal Variety Show.

Reports from Sunday’s papers suggest Carroll has already signed a book deal and will release a stand-up DVD.
