Brendon Burns is to make his Newcastle Stand debut on Tuesday night.

The controversial comedian, who started his television career alongside Sacha Baron Cohen and Ricky Gervais on The 11 O’Clock Show (Channel 4), is set to perform a work-in-progress version of new show, Brendon Burns Hasn’t Heard of You Either.

Burns was recently diagnosed as partially deaf.

His solo shows have never been afraid to tackle a taboo, and his six live CDs show that fans revel in his ability to go where other comedians fear to tread.

Brendon won the main Edinburgh Fringe comedy prize in 2007, and has gathered a cult following at the festival.

A trilogy, Burnsy versus Brendon, which ran at Edinburgh in 2004, 2005 and 2006, examined his own life – culminating in his mental breakdown and drinks and drugs rehabilitation at the Priory.

He released his first semi-autobiographical novel, ‘Fear of Hat Loss in Las Vegas’ in 2010, and his first US released CD ‘Pompously Lecturing Americans’ has just gone on sale.

Brendon is well known for his love of professional wrestling, and has been on tour with Mick Foley for his spoken word shows.

This August Brendon will team up with the world’s favourite indie wrestler (and acclaimed podcaster) Colt Cabana for a show at The Stand in Edinburgh.

Brendon Burns Hasn’t Heard of You Either is at the Newcastle Stand on Tuesday 11 June. Tickets are £10.
