Sue Perkins confirmed for Sheffield Doc/Fest
Nathan Penlington and Adam Buxton also confirmed to appear.
Sue Perkins, Nathan Penlington and Adam Buxton are amongst the comedy names featured at the 21st annual Sheffield Doc/Fest.
The documentary and film festival returns to the Steel City on Saturday 7 June until Thursday 12 June, with Sheffield’s Showroom Cinema playing host.
There are also outdoor screenings in the Peace Gardens, Howard Street, South Street Amphitheatre, and Chatsworth, and even a cinema in a cave, at The Devil’s Arse in Castleton.
With an emphasis on her role on The Great British Bake Off, Perkins will talk us through her career, including the secrets of why Bake Off has been such a cultural phenomenon.
While Penlington’s Choose Your Own Documentary re-invents the comedy/documentary genre with a true story of obsession, childhood sweethearts, friendship, loss and adventure.
But there is a twist. You, the audience, decide Nathan’s fate by using remote controls. With over 1,500 paths and multiple endings, his destiny is in your hands.
And Adam Buxton returns to Sheffield for a second year to present a special BUG show celebrating some of David Bowie’s music video and film output.
Legendary film director Martin Scorsese, Sheffield musicians Pulp and broadcasters John Pilger and Jon Snow are among the big non-comedy names featured this year.
