Tyneside promoters Creased Comedy have announced a surprise appearance from Lee Nelson this summer.

Giggle Beats can confirm that the star of BBC Three’s Well Funny People will headline Creased Comedy’s monthly show at Whitley Bay’s Berkeley Tavern on Friday 11 July.

Nelson’s headline appearance on Tyneside will perhaps come as a surprise to fans, as the TV comedian traditionally plays small theatres and arts centres on extensive national tours.

But it represents another coup for Creased Comedy organiser Simon Buglass, who has already brought Reginald D Hunter, Dana Alexander and Jason Cook to Whitley Bay in recent months.

Buglass said: “Some of the names we have managed to attract to our little club in Whitley Bay have astounded me.

“Getting Lee Nelson on is great – I’m sure he will go down a storm. I’m very excited about the future of our comedy club.”

Tickets for Nelson’s appearance at The Berkeley Tavern are priced £15 and go on sale at Creased Comedy’s next show, headlined by Ray Peacock, on Friday 11 April. Click for tickets.
