A show about obsessive One Direction fans comes to Newcastle next week.

Based on the Twitter account of the same name, Harry, My Cat Died looks at the most bizarre attempts from teenage fans to get the attention of boy band member Harry Styles.

The show, performed by musical comedian Stephen Frizzle, comes to The Stand Comedy Club in Newcastle on Tuesday 14 January.

After three dates at the Edinburgh Fringe 2013, and shows in Leeds, London and Manchester, this will be the last performance of Harry, My Cat Died before work begins on its sequel.

Speaking to Giggle Beats, Frizzle said the show was more than just laughing at tweets from the young and obsessed.

He said: “It gets a bit interactive with the audience, looking at other pop obsessions from the last few decades. And I genuinely answer the question of why these kids are obsessed with One Direction.

“There’s also a special guest who I’m not really allowed to mention, but he’s worth the ticket price alone”.

Support on the night comes from David Callaghan and Si Buglass.

The show starts at 8.30pm.
