Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy autumn tour announced
Star names are set to appear in a stage show of Douglas Adams’ cult comic sci-fi series, The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy.
The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy Radio Show Live! features many of the cast of the original radio series, first broadcast in 1978.
Simon Jones, Geoff McGivern and Susan Sheridan will reprise their roles as Arthur Dent, Ford Prefect, and Trillian, with Mitch Benn appearing as Zaphod Beeblebrox, a role first played by Mark Wing-Davey.
Phill Jupitus, Colin Baker, John Challis, Neil Gaiman, and Clive Anderson are amongst those appearing as the ‘Voice of the Book’ in the nationwide tour.
Celebrated TV comedy producer John Lloyd, who co-wrote the fifth and sixth episodes of the first radio series, will appear in Brighton and Milton Keynes.
Veteran producer Dirk Maggs directs the show, which sees the sound effects recreated live onstage.
The show’s official website says it “creates anew the most enduring version of Douglas Adams’s masterwork in a radio-style stage show filled with laughter, really wild sound effects and drinks with extremely silly names.”

- 25-26 Sep – Sunderland (Empire) – Voice of the Book: Miriam Margolyes
