Britain’s Got Talent’s Cal Halbert plays next Giggle Beats Comedy Quiz
Michael McIntyre declared him “the new generation of comedy”, and now one of Britain’s Got Talent’s success stories is to make an appearance at Giggle Beats’ next comedy quiz night.
Comedy impressionist Cal Halbert will perform a short set upstairs at The Hancock pub in Newcastle on Monday 2 September, following the popular pub quiz.
He appeared on Britain’s Got Talent in 2011.
Speaking ahead of the quiz, Halbert said: “Having been to the night as a comedy fan and seen its success, I was over the moon when I was asked to play September’s show.
“It’s a great gig – something a bit different from your average comedy night – and it’s great fun.”
Since entering Britain’s Got Talent at the age of just 19, Halbert has gone on to perform at some of the top local comedy clubs, including The Stand and The Grinning Idiot.
And with a vast range of voices and personas – including comedians Billy Connolly, Rhod Gilbert and Michael McIntyre – Cal says he can adapt his show to any audience.
Giggle Beats’ editor Andrew Dipper said: “Cal is one of my favourite up-and-coming acts right now.
“He’s gone from strength to strength since I first saw him in 2011, and I’m chuffed to bits he’s agreed to open our autumn run of shows at The Hancock.”
The Giggle Beats Comedy Quiz takes place at The Hancock on the first Monday of every month.
Sponsors The Stand Comedy Club and the Comedy Advertising Network provide the prizes – including a £25 bar tab, comedy tickets, DVDs and loads more.
Doors open at 7pm, and the quiz starts at 8pm.
Entry is £2.
