New Act of the Month: Peter Otway
Comedian Peter Otway first got on stage in Liverpool nineteen months ago; 150 gigs later, he is our new act of the month for November. Based in Manchester, Otway describes his style as ‘affable and conversational’, though to be honest he’s ‘never really quite sure’. Andrew Dipper went for a chat with the Beat the Frog World Series winner to find out a bit more…
How and why did you get into comedy? I started comedy in Liverpool. I was at university over there and fancied giving it a go. Liverpool audiences get a pretty bad rap on the comedy front – and to be fair, some of it is fairly deserved! Fortunately, though, there are also some lovely gigs in Liverpool, especially Rawhide Raw, where the MC Sam Avery is super supportive of brand new acts.
Where do you want to be in five years’ time? I guess I’d just like to be still enjoying comedy, whatever I’m doing.
If you could gig with one comedian who would it be? Probably Louis C.K.
Are you a Tweeter? #yes @PeterOtway.
Where can we see you next? November’s looking nice and busy. I’m doing a weekend for HahaComedyClubs on the 18th – 20th across the North West for their 1-year anniversary. It’s a great line-up, with Nick Helm headlining.
